Les Flûtes Caquets is a new, young duo . . .

. . . comprised of flutists Kateri Chambers and Elizabeth Ford. Specialists in historical instruments and performance practice, they present energetic and unique interpretations of primarily music of the eighteenth century. While remaining true to the source is a concern, they present often-stuffy music in a thoroughly well informed and thoroughly unacademic style.

They united as performers based on shared interests in French court music, popular music of the past, and the theatrical possibilities of the flute duet. Their performances combine costumes, narrative, whimsical sets, and dance to bring a musically full experience to the audience.

Current programs include La Folie des Moutons, an exploration of French pastoral ideals; Mozart's Operas for Two; and wintermomente: moment d'hiver, a holiday program combining traditional carols and holiday tunes of France, Germany, and Britain with the music of Telemann and Boismortier. Planned projects include explorations of the tune La Folia, imagery of birds and nature in music, and the Court Teachers: Music of Hotteterre and de LaBarre.

Concert presentations are but one possibility for Les Flûtes Caquets. The informed audience understands and appreciates the music in a different way, and masterclasses on baroque style are available for college or high school music students. An interactive presentation on The Magic Flute is available for elementary students, and pre-concert lectures are always a part of the presentation.
