Traverso Duo

Elizabeth Ford completed an MM in musicology from the Peabody Conservatory in 2005, where she studied eighteenth century French instrumental methods and was a traverso student of Colin St. Martin. Prior to that, she studied music and philosophy at West Virginia Wesleyan College, where she published in many philosophy journals and was the winner of the 2001 WVMTNA woodwind competition. Her previous flute teachers include Karen Winter, Linda Wolfersheim, Mary Ann Nelson and David Wright. Elizabeth discovered the baroque flute in her final year at Wesleyan, and has since devoted most of her musical endeavors to this instrument and its history. Currently she is in the process of starting a music publishing house devoted to music of the eighteenth century which has been relatively inaccessible since its initial publication.

Kateri Chambers studied with Dr. Stephen Preston at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama . She will be obtaining her MMus in Early Music Performance in 2007 and is currently performing around Washington DC. She previously studied traverso with Colin St. Martin at the Peabody Conservatory (B.M.) and was heard performing with many of their Early Music ensembles (Peabody Renaissance Ensemble, Peabody Broken Consort, Peabody Baroque, and Baltimore Baroque Band), as well as performing regularly with her traditional Irish music ensemble Ash & Rowan and with her own Early Music ensembles (Ensemble Chaeron and Flûtes Caquets).
She hails from the San Francisco Bay Area where she studied traverso, modern and renaissance flutes, recorder, and voice with Kathleen Kraft, Michelle Caimotto, Laurette Goldberg, Joseph Bloom, and Louise Carslake, among others. She continued her more modernistic musical studies in the studios of Bonnie Lake, Daniel Holmes, and Dr. Lori Lind-Holmes.
